Procurement and contracts
We work closely with a wide range of valued suppliers to deliver our service.
With the support of our colleagues at Bluelight Commercial, we ensure we secure the very best value for the services and supplies we procure.
It comes as no surprise that our largest value contract, and annual spend, is on the maintenance, engineering and general upkeep of our helicopter fleet.
This, and the contract for maintaining our aeroplane fleet, is due for renewal and a detailed procurement exercise is underway.
The most significant procurement exercise completed in 2024/25 was for the purchase of seven new H135 helicopters as part of a major fleet replacement programme.
In March 2025, it was announced that Airbus Helicopters UK had been awarded the contract to supply the aircraft.
The NPAS National Strategic Board worked in partnership with Bluelight Commercial, the Home Office, the National Police Chiefs' Council and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, to secure this strategic investment.
State-of-the-art aircraft will replace older models and will provide NPAS with enhanced operational capability and technology, ensuring that the service remains fit for the future.
Suppliers delivering contracts with an annual value of £100,000 or more are listed in the table above.
Lower value, but significant, contracts include the supply of:
- Aviation command and aircraft navigation system (ACANS)
- Support for fixed wing and ground station mission system software
- Fixed wing MX10 camera support and maintenance
- Service and maintenance of aircrew helmets
