Tactical Flight Officer (Police Constable) - All Forces
Tactical Flight Officers
- Location: NPAS bases nationally
- Open to: Substantive Police Constables (with support from your force)
- Experience: You don't need any aviation experience, just bring your best self
- Closing date for applications: 21 September 2025
The job in a nutshell: As part of a highly-skilled air crew, you will provide valuable support to your police colleagues on the ground, directing them from your unique perspective in the air and, most importantly, keeping them safe. Your jobs will often be fast-paced but you'll also help out with pre-planned events like large-scale gatherings or evidence gathering. Sometimes, you'll have to land to help people and, although quite uncommon, use your powers of arrest.
The person for the job: It's a tough selection process, because it is such a specialised job. So you need to be 100% committed, a great team player, adaptable, enthusiastic and have great communication skills.
Great tip to help your chances: Get in touch with your local base at any time if you are seriously thinking about applying. Even better, try and spend a few shifts with the crews to find out exactly what it takes to be a Tactical Flight Officer with the National Police Air Service. You'd be very welcome.
