Media & documentary enquiries
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) provides air support to police forces across England and Wales.
We are a national support service and are not the lead agency for the incidents we attend.
NPAS-related enquiries
For all NPAS-related media enquiries, please email: [email protected]
Where appropriate, we will:
- Provide a brief overview of NPAS’s involvement in an incident, including date, time, aircraft crew deployed and time of task
- Share the relevant local police log number(s) to assist with follow-up
- Copy in the local force communications team for transparency and coordination
We aim to respond within one working day during office hours (Monday to Friday).
If your enquiry is urgent or time-sensitive, please include your deadline so we can prioritise accordingly.
Incident-specific enquiries
For all media enquiries relating to specific police incidents, please contact the communications team of the relevant local police force.
They are responsible for providing detailed information about incidents, investigations, and operational matters.
Out-of-office hours
The media mailbox isn’t routinely monitored outside of our usual office hours.
If you have an urgent media enquiry during the evening or weekend, please contact the on-duty Force Duty Officer at: [email protected]
Make sure to include your name, organisation, and as much detail as possible about your enquiry so we can assist you quickly.
Please note: this service is for urgent out-of-hours matters only - routine enquiries will be picked up during normal working hours.
Major incidents
During major incidents, updates will be shared via our official channels:
- X / Twitter: @NPAShq
- Instagram: @npashq
- Website: www.npas.police.uk
During these times, we kindly ask that you don’t contact us via the out-of-hours email, as we’ll be focusing on providing accurate and timely information through our main channels.
Use of NPAS footage
If you're part of a police communications team and would like to use NPAS footage, we’re happy to help – we just ask that a few simple steps are followed:
- Please send the footage over so we can take a look before giving the go-ahead
- If approved, we’ll remove any coordinates and add an NPAS watermark to keep things consistent
- And finally, we kindly ask that you credit NPAS and tag us in any online posts or communications where the footage is used
If you're a media outlet requesting footage, please provide as much detail as possible in your request. We’ll need to check with the relevant local police force before agreeing to anything. Make sure to let us know:
- What footage you're requesting
- Where you plan to use it (e.g. TV, online, social media)
- How long you intend to use it for
This helps us ensure everything is handled appropriately and in line with operational and legal considerations.
Documentary requests
We appreciate the interest shown by production companies in the work of NPAS.
At present, we are not accepting new proposals. However, we will review our position in the new year, so please keep us in mind for future opportunities.
