NPAS supports Merseyside Police at Radio 1 Big Weekend in Liverpool

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) provided aerial support to Merseyside Police over the weekend during the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Liverpool, where tens of thousands of music fans gathered for a headline performance by Mumford & Sons.

A fixed-wing aircraft was deployed to assist in monitoring the safe movement of large crowds as attendees exited the event. Operating as an extension of the local policing response, the aircraft delivered real-time aerial surveillance, enhancing situational awareness for officers on the ground.

This support helped Merseyside Police to manage crowd flow more effectively, identify potential risks early, and ensure public safety during one of the city’s largest music events of the year.

NPAS works in partnership with police forces across England and Wales to provide scalable, intelligence-led aerial support.
