Arrest made after laser aimed at police helicopter in Grimsby

A man has been arrested after reports a laser was deliberately aimed at a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter flying over Grimsby on 15 May.

The aircraft was supporting Humberside Police when it was reported that the laser was directed at the crew multiple times. This kind of behaviour is extremely dangerous and can put both the crew and people on the ground at risk.

Thanks to the crew’s quick response and coordination with officers on the ground, a suspect was identified and arrested shortly after. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Laser attacks on aircraft are a criminal offence and can carry serious penalties.

NPAS continues to work with police forces across the UK to raise awareness and bring offenders to justice.
