How we are funded
Most of our income comes from contributions made by police forces in England and Wales. In 2022/23, this amounted to £43,872,438.
Under the current funding model, forces determine the number of annual hours they require air support for and contribute according to those hours.
From tracking illegal off-road bikers to helping shut down major cannabis farms, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) is giving neighbourhood policing a serious boost from above.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) provides air support to police forces across England and Wales. We are a national support service and are not the lead agency for the incidents we attend.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) played a vital role in helping bring a dangerous high-speed pursuit to a safe conclusion, working closely with Avon and Somerset Police and Gloucestershire Police.
Thursday 20 March 2025When it comes to stopping dangerous drivers in their tracks, NPAS crews will pull out all the stops to support their colleagues on the ground - even jumping from an aircraft and making the arrests.
